Senior/Principal Process Engineer 
Our client is looking for an ambitious, visionary, and resourceful contributor for the role of Senior Process Engineer. This role will focus on rare earth separation and will lead the Rare Earth Separation division for our team on the East Coast. The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for designing and scaling (commissioning) the systems essential for us to achieve our vision.

This role reports to the COO and you will be a trusted resource for all members of the team.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the process development of the rare earth separation system, taking the project from R&D through the feasibility stage to pilot and commercial-scale operations
  • Develop detailed mass and energy balance models
  • Develop and maintain process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Perform laboratory testing to find optimal operating conditions
  • Design and model pilot plant processes and systems
  • Collaborate with other senior engineers to size and source equipment that meet required specification for pilot design, build-out, and operation
  • Establish project timelines and execute deliverables in a timely manner
  • Serve as a technical expert in the cross-functional engineering team designing the pilot and commercial-scale processes (including design review facilitation)

Strong Candidates Will Have:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in extractive metallurgy, materials test laboratory, or pilot site operations
  • Experience with solvent extraction, ion exchange, selective halogenation, or solid-state reactions
  • Background in actinide, rare earth metals, copper, cobalt, nickel, or zinc industries
  • Deep knowledge of liquid-liquid extractions and ion exchange chemistries
  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Mineral Processing or similar field
  • Experience in plant commissioning
  • Bias toward action, collaboration, and leadership
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong orientation to safety
